Wedgerwood prides itself on many things, one of these being - our amazing 15 strong team. A hard working premium crew of craftsmen that relish in producing some incredible items of joinery and bringing clients' concepts and desires into reality. Always keen to share a joke or the tallest tale from the latest fishing or hunting trip - there's never a dull moment at Wedgerwood.
Wedgerwood's current workshop foreman, John Phillips has even followed in his father Eddie's footsteps! Eddie Phillips was one of the Wedgerwood workshop foremen in the 1990's. John started his apprenticeship here and after a short stint in Christchurch came back to Wedgerwood where he has remained for the last 20 years.
Among the team that have been integral parts within Wedgerwood's operations over the decades, Kay Austin (affectionately named by her peers 'the goo'), consultant and estimator, has been an important part of the business for nearly 25 years.
Wedgerwood has the perfect mix of experience and knowledge blending in with the up and coming craftsmen. With outstanding results from his assessments, Lochland Snodgrass, one of Wedgerwood's apprentices is on the cusp of being completely qualified, while Ben Fearnside is just about to start his formal training. It's a wonderful thing to see the wealth of knowledge and know-how being passed down to the future craftsmen of Wedgerwood.
Guss, one of the newer additions to the Wedgerwood family is Russell's Black Labrador. He is always very keen to meet visitors as they venture into our showroom so pop in some time and say hi!
The Central Otago district has been home to Russell since 2000. He loves the lifestyle, area and the people.
He has been in the joinery industry since 2003, taking on the managers role at Wedgerwood Joinery in 2018. When the opportunity arose for Russell to make an invested interest in the business with Hamish and Christine Sutherland mid-2021, it was hard for him to say no.
Alongside the amazing team at Wedgewood, Russell takes pride in running an efficient ship.
